Noran Nijino Talk & Signing — Publication Celebration for Newest Work 'Akari no Tomoru Hello' (Sakurayama-sha)

A gathering for readings of Yodaka Some's original poems and conversation.

This is a tanka gathering hosted by tanka poet Miyako Asai. Beginners and those who have not yet started writing tanka are welcome to participate. If you will participate, please compose one tanka and send it by email to [email protected] by September 18. The theme is free. Also, drinks will not be sold on the day, so please feel free to bring your own beverages.

It had been scheduled for June, but due to a typhoon it has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 26 at 14:00. Those who applied in June, please apply again. Also, the second session has been set for Saturday, November 28 at 14:00, and an event page has been created, so please check that information and apply. For this first session, the talk will cover Nagoya's yūkaku from the Keichō era through the Meiji period. The lecturers will be members of the Tokai Yūri History Research Group.

Journalist Shinichi Ikeo, an editorial board member of the Chunichi Shimbun (Tokyo bureau), will be invited to commemorate the publication of his latest book, 'Children on Provisional Release: Targets of Japan First'. Through his reporting on children and their families who, despite being born and raised in Japan, are not permitted by national and local governments to live in Japan because they lack residence status—and therefore cannot envision future dreams—we will hear in detail about the realities and problems of Japan's immigration policies.

This is the second installment of Henri Ohara and Ruko's love-of-reading talk. The two unabashed book obsessives will once again gush about their passion for reading — from the one book that hooked them, to favorite authors, when and where they read, their reading histories, and recent recommendations. Chances are you'll start looking at the unread stacks in your room with new fondness! A signing will be held after the talk.

We will hold a talk event to celebrate the publication of publishing journalist Kazufumi Iida's new book, 'The Myth of Declining Reading Comprehension Among Young People', published by Shueisha International.

Question the conventional wisdom about how we work! Based on research findings (evidence) from researchers around the world, why not reassess the "ways of working" we consider common sense? We will welcome Goryu Sato, a health economics researcher and full-time lecturer at Keio University, who recently published "The Science of Working" with Diamond Inc., to hear him speak.

In the 2nd session, we will talk about the history of Nakamura Yūkaku from the modern Taisho period through the prewar Showa era. The lecturers are members of the Tokai Yūri History Research Group.
