NABC Store Manager's Diary — August 15, 2026 (Sat)

Today is the anniversary of the end of the war. This summer we held several events about books dealing with "Japan during the time of war." It was partly by chance that they took place in summer, but I think it's because we feel we should do something in response to Japan's current situation. I believe we must not let the present become a "pre-war" period. This afternoon I held two events. From 2:00 PM there was a book launch talk for Noran Nijino's new work, "Akari no Tomoru Hello." We invited guests from Kyoto and Tokyo to read passages from the text. I think the atmosphere was completely different from the talk we held recently at Nagoya City Kita Library. Many participants came from far away; Noran has fans across the country, and it was a very good occasion for everyone to meet and interact. From 6:00 PM there was a talk to commemorate the publication of the Tokai Tanka Anthology 2026, "Seeds of Song." A little over twenty people attended, including those who contributed to the anthology and those who did not this time, and everyone listened intently to the critiques by the anthology's editors, Satsuki Suzuki and Bunchō Nagai, and the guest commentator, Professor Hiroyuki Ogiwara.
