Sometime before the COVID-19 pandemic, on a whim I had the opportunity to visit a place called a “happening bar,” which I had long been curious about. As someone who enjoys exploring underground spaces, it was a kind of challenge.
A happening bar is a uniquely Japanese type of adult entertainment venue where people with sexual tastes or interests gather and can naturally engage in activities with other customers. As the name suggests, it’s a place visited in the hope of sudden happenings, commonly referred to as a “hap-bar.” (Excerpt from a Shibari workshop)

A small bookstore a 5-minute walk west of Nagoya Station, attached to Cafe River. We stock only books related to Nagoya (novels, poetry, tanka, history books, etc.). We carry books and zines by people who live in, are from, or have lived in the Tokai region, centered on Nagoya. Writers and creators, please feel free to get in touch. We also host many events such as author talks, reading groups, and poetry gatherings. On the second floor there is a specialty free-paper shop, ONLY FREE PAPER.
A medium-sized bookstore in the TSUTAYA group located in Moriyama Ward, Nagoya.
