The Day Before the Birthday

On the day before a birthday, I make the sponge that becomes the base for a shortcake.
I let it rest for a day so the fluffy texture becomes moist, then spread whipped cream and arrange the fruit.
Only I in my family can make that base, so I bake it with a sense of responsibility.
This work records that process in detail, like a report.

At the end there is a recipe for the shortcake sponge (so far, no failures!)
