What Reveals Itself as I Pick

Creation

When I walk along the shore, there are pottery shards that somehow catch my eye.
I don't always pick the same patterns, but when I later line them up, my own sense of self strangely emerges.

In this work, I write about the things people keep choosing without noticing, accompanied by photos of pottery shards and drift objects I picked up at the sea.

You think you're looking at someone else's found fragments, but before you know it you're remembering something tucked away in your own drawer. I hope it becomes that kind of reading experience.

[Recommended for (audience & reactions)]

The main readers are people in their 40s to 60s. Even without experience in beachcombing, readers have said things like 'I remembered things I used to love' and 'There are things I just can't throw away.'

・Those who appreciate the texture of essays and language
・Those interested in handcrafts, making things, and old objects
・Those who want to trace the origins of what they love
・Those seeking quiet breathing space in everyday life
